![]() Here, I review recent drastic northern expansion of distribution of tropical land hermit crabs ( Coenobita) into temperate Japan. There is currently a strong scientific consensus that recent global change of climate, including the global warming, seriously damage ecosystems of both lands and oceans. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of trace amount of iron (III) in food, biological and environmental samples. The correlation coefficient, slope and intercept were calculated and found to be 0.9989, 0.1112, and 0.0048, respectively. The detection limit and RSD value of the method were found to be 5 ppb and 0.5906% respectively. The method obeys the Beers Law within the range of 0.05 μg mL −1–6.0 μg mL −1. ![]() The maximum value of molar absorptivity was found to be 1.8 × 10 5 L mol −1 cm −1 at λ max, 477 nm (⩾9 fold enrichments) for N-octylacetamide ( N-OAA). The Fe (III) extract was examined in the strong acidic (HCl + H 2SO 4) solution. The extraction of Fe (III)-thiocyanate complex was done by novel organic reagents such as N-phenylacetamide, N-alkylacetamide, (alkyl = butyl, hexyl and octyl group) in chloroform. The proposed method is simple, selective and highly sensitive. The nanodrop spectrophotometric (NDS) determination of iron (III) in water samples has been established. The scope of this article is to review the current state of the science on nitrate in human health and disease. Recently benefits of dietary sources of nitrate for cardiovascular health and protection against infections have been unveiled, calling for an assessment of the risk and benefits associated with nitrate in our food and water supply. The discovery of the nitric oxide pathway in the early 1980s revealed that nitrate is produced endogenously in the body changing our perception of nitrate safety. Also, epidemiological evidence for an association between cancers of the digestive tract and nitrate intake is inconclusive in terms of increased risks of cancer although the International Agency for Research on Cancer concluded “ingested nitrite or nitrate under conditions that result in endogenous nitrosation is probably carcinogenic to humans (Group 2A)”. However, methemoglobinemia is rare and evidence suggests a relation with infective enteritis rather than with nitrate alone. For years, people have viewed dietary sources of nitrate as harmful to humans causing methemoglobinemia and cancers. This arises from consumption of crops and from nitrate-contaminated drinking water due to agricultural land runoff. Nitrate and nitrate-forming salts are among the key components of fertilizers and the increased dependency of farming practices on such fertilizers over several decades has led to increasing levels of human exposure. We are currently working towards extending our measurement to lower temperatures. The enrichment of the biosphere with reactive nitrogen from anthropogenic origin, in combination with increased consumption of vegetables and (preserved) animal products, has led to increased intake by humans of nitrite and nitrate. No sharp feature at the onset temperature is observable to within 1%. We have obtained preliminary data of the specific heat of solid helium down to 80mK. We are currently working towards extending our measurement to lower temperatures.ĪB - Recent torsional oscillator measurements of solid 4He in Vycor glass suggest the existence of a supersolid state of matter below 175mK. ![]() N2 - Recent torsional oscillator measurements of solid 4He in Vycor glass suggest the existence of a supersolid state of matter below 175mK. ![]()
